As you’d expect, the 2023 Moto Edge+ delivers a smooth and clean software experience based on Android 13. Thanks to Motorola’s lightweight skin, you get to enjoy the purity and speed of stock Android, along with some handy features that Motorola adds for your convenience – such as the double chop gesture that toggles the flashlight. With the Moto Edge+, you can also enjoy Motorola’s Ready For feature, which lets you connect your phone to a larger display (via cable or WiFi) and use it as a gaming console, a desktop PC, or a video chat device – similar to Samsung DeX, but with a Moto twist. You can even cast videos to an external screen while using your handset for other tasks, or remotely control your phone from a computer (and transfer files or copy / paste data).
In addition, Motorola is promising four years of security updates and three years of OS upgrades -- not too shabby. And unlike carrier-branded phones like last year’s Moto Edge+ 5G UW from Verizon, which come filled with bloatware, this unlocked Moto Edge+ is completely devoid of preinstalled third-party apps. You’ll find the usual Google and Moto apps, and nothing more. Frankly, it’s a breath of fresh air.
Moto Edge+ (2023) Final Verdict
The Moto Edge+ (2023) is an excellent flagship. It offers a gorgeous
design, a beautiful display, superb audio, top-notch performance, solid
battery life, and a delightful user experience. Other than the cameras –
which are competitive but leave some room for improvement – there’s little else
to fault here. For the first time, Motorola’s taken one of its best global
phones (the Moto Edge 40 Pro) and brought it to North America unmolested.
Plus at $799, the value proposition is hard to beat. The Moto Edge+ compares favorably with Samsung’s smaller Galaxy S23 ($799) and beats the more affordable OnePlus 11 5G ($699) with features like 4k selfie video and wireless charging. Yes, Google’s Pixel 7a ($499) and Pixel 7 ($599) are also worth considering, but fall short on performance. Plus the Moto Edge+ comes with 512GB of storage, vs. 128GB for the others.
So, in the end, we highly recommend the 2023 Moto Edge+. It’s available today from Motorola, Amazon, and Best Buy for $799.
